Why they will notice

The User Doesn’t Care - But you should

Original post made a good example of faulty logic like:

Office workers don’t care if the skyscraper’s foundation is stable or not. They care about making money.

We can also extend this to the logic of developing software through the same building metaphor. Architects, as well as general public, will absolutely care how exactly skyscraper is going to be made. Specifically, a lively debate is expected around a skyscraper project from construction bureau that claims to make the skyscraper from mud and wood while stating their users/inhabitants wouldn’t notice. We already know that some combinations of our technologies are exceptionally weak in a certain circumstances. Architect CAN design a building (like this Plyscraper) made of wood but they would be asked to provide some evidence that it’s possible to pull of.

For some reason it’s widely assumed that nonperfomant app is somehow ok. Proponents of such statement need to provide exceptional evidence in favor of this highly unobvious claim. Similar argument is made for code quality/testing/etc.
